this is pretty close to accurate. If they went down the road of acknowledging RS GP for real world value it opens up a whole avenue that they wouldn't really want... (althought idfk UK laws lol) breach of contract is the absolute minority of what he is liable for and is almost irrelevant compared to potential fraud and breach of data protection

In UK law, 'monetary value' is irrelevant as theft is simply defined as "dishonestly appropriating property belonging to another". I think the real issue with theft here is that all GP in the game ultimately belongs to Jagex. Therefore, even though Jed has stolen gold from other players, this cannot constitute theft because the "property" - the GP - is still owned by Jagex even after Jed has stolen it and therefore there has been no appropriation. Like i said above, it's much more likely that Jed will be liable for breach of the DPA/fraud.
