Octavarium Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 old and he is shite. fucking utterly poor. Straightforward 4/4 beat or not the lad has rock solid timing! He's straight all the time, there's no flow or groove or shuffle. He's a shit drummer and he compensates by simple stick tricks. Bobby Jarzombek for technical drumming with stick tricks. Octavarium Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Solid beat is never what you what EVER! wtf, you either want to be slightly behind or infront of the beat with a groove. You can only get that from the soul which he has none of. He's just trying to show off by overcompensating his tricks without bothering to get better at his supposed proffession. I'd slap him in the face, tell him to cut that shit out, use some polyrhythms, ghost notes and produce a solid zz top cover. oh, and grow a zz top beard.
Octavarium Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Incorrect. If you elbow your drumkit, you will produce a shite tone and break your elbows.

Of course they've no soul, they're a bunch of old cunts in a cover band content on playing everything note for note with their main interest being the bit of dollar they'll pocket at the end of the night! I can never get my head around cover bands (90% of my local music scene), the whole point & fun of being a musician to me is to do something new and break the mould, all of which happens when you play from the soul Start a band wiv me?
Octavarium Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 You can have soul in a cover band, just don't play it the exact same way. Put your own spin on it and play with emotion. Sure, what do you play?

Octavarium Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Fucking great. Can I be on guitar? D standard tuning, telecaster and a slide on my finger. Blues at it's finest. We need ph0nes' voice though. Deep as fuck. there's also no reason why zz top covers can't be fucking fantastic, I present to you G3. Vai, Satch and Petrucci being sexy as fuck. VSxvec3BlfE&start=50s
