TJ Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Lol the gamers of America will never let this pass. anonymous has their dooms day button ready.
TJ Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 The only reason this would ever pass is if gaming companies had a problem with the videos, which they don't, because they promote their games. Also wtf do i care about an AMERICAN bill, sue me in aus? lol Pretty sure the internet's laws are applied based on the country the website is hosted in, isn't youtube an American site? :s if so it'll mean they won't have any more gaming videos. Pretty sure Youtube isn't the only video host on the internet. by far the most popular lol, i wouldn't want to have to change Exactly, wtf are you going to use? Myspace video? lol
Blitz Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 Oh just to clarify this would only effect US'ers, for UK'ers we're fine, we just wouldn't be able to post videos on Youtube etc, if it's passed it'll fuck over the community.

This is so fucked... It they pass it, there's going to be a major uproar, and the hackers are going to be furious... An when you piss off hackers, the shit hits the fan quickly.
Evan Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 "I believe the First Amendment prohibits this with "freedom of the media"... " Don't know much about American law, but that quote seems to make sense. Also in the video it says WHOEVER has copyrighted the gameplay, can give permission for people who post videos to continue doing that, which is why I think a company like Jagex would say anyone can post videos of there gameplay because it promotes the game. I doubt it will be passed though.

Companies like Activision realise that due to the amount of people on youtube with like 100k+ subscribers, them playing and making videos of their games is just a free way of advertising for them and thus leading them to more sales, they realise that, but if this is passed then they'd need to grant every single person who wants to make videos about it a license too, which is all very well and good but with the amount of people messaging them about that, it'd be somewhat impossible to get through them all, and say if they're teamed up with another company on a game, the person with licenses from Activision wouldn't be able to post due to the fact they don't have both companies licenses.
Logan|Ravaged Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 if this gets passed im movin to mars i heard houses are really cheap der
