Sam|Stop Lying Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 What would it be like? inb4 TH1S IS 0FF TOPIC OMFG, i'm asking you people who have retired, and those who are still playing. Do you ever regret playing this addicting ass game, and how would your life be different if you hadn't ever started. IMO, my life would be so much better without Runescape. Even though I've met LOADS of just awesome people through Runescape, and just the internet in general my life would be so much better without it. 1. Better grades 2. Better sleeping 3. Better family life (hur hur dur he said family life) 4. More social interactions. I bet I could go on, but that's all I could think of atm.
gfdgfd Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Don't think my life would be any different tbh. I could easily do anything I wanted and still play runescape, i just have low aspirations.
Sam|Stop Lying Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 Don't think my life would be any different tbh. I could easily do anything I wanted and still play runescape, i just have low aspirations. It would though, no one can say that there life wouldn't be ANY different AT ALL if they didn't play this game. then quit That's the thing. I go into these phases where I play for a few months and then stop. I just can't get away from this game. And when I say my life would be SO MUCH BETTER, I over-exaggerated. I just think that if Runescape hadn't existed I would have so much more time.
G-Falo Son Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Life would be the same, just when I'm bored I'd continue to be bored rather than have a bit of entertainment. Doesn't really affect any o the other things you've listed
Sam|Stop Lying Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 Well I guess I'm just a washed up 15 year old Runescape addict. I'M A MESS :(
Xnce Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 without rs id just spend more time on wow, wouldnt change much =/ but then again if it was never made i wouldnt of got into computer gaming and prolly still have a life
watch me tb Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 i dont rly play rs anymore.. but honestly, i bet if i never got into rs i never would have gotten into anything computer/game related. and would have been a lot more socially active 8-9 and some of 10th grades.. other than that it really didnt effect me.
Scotty|w0rst Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Well its play this in my free time or play xbox. Nothing would change. And no I dont regret it because I learned a lot from being a part of the clan and really matured each year.
d72 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Well if I didn't play RuneScape, I wouldn't have gone through a lot lol Like I wouldn't have realized that one of my good family friends was a lying thief, for example, but I think the biggest one was that, if it weren't for me, a lot of my friends would not have started the game as well and would end up chain reaction in and out of game; an example being within Fi and the pure community, because Skele Pures probably wouldn't have known what the game was if it weren't for my friends and I playing :p
Tris Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 When I stopped playing I replaced one addiction with another other going from Rs to WoW. After I got bored of WoW I had a 2 month time period of playing no online games except the odd xbox/ps3 game while I was at mates. During that time I found that I had too much spare time on my hands, sure I'd go out more and see mates more but there is a limit to that. Most days I"d end up sitting around watching T.V for a few hours where normally I"d be gaming. Learning/Study wise I found I completed assignments early, added further on to them and managed to achieve higher marks. Online gaming definitely has its impact for me on how much effort I put into uni work, i.e you do the minimum requirements to pass and end up gaming for the rest of the night. With reimplementing Rs recently into my life I've seen a drop in my performance overall with uni work so I'm trying to keep playing off until term break. I found I helped my family out more during the time period that I didn't scape, mainly because there wasn't that last run in to run in or monster to slay, you do the work when asked and not after you've done 'x' in Rs meanwhile someone else has already done what has been asked of you. Sleeping hasn't changed for me, I still sleep for the same amount of time most days because of the work load from uni. I'm sure life would be different if I never started playing Rs or never started online gaming in the first place. What would it be like? Who knows, could of chosen to spend hours and hours on an instrument or sport instead and ended up world famous. :nice:
conner Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Probably the same, my irl contacts are kwl gf and alot of mates rs is just for when i feel like it
Cal Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I understand people wishing they didnt get addicted as they wouldve done better in exams/at school etc, but i was never one for university so i never regret being addicted at a younger age, what someone considers "wasting time" is relative, if youre as happy whilst playing Rs as someone else is whilst they play sports or whatever, then neither can be called wasting time as its genuine enjoyment.. I dont even log on nowadays but planning to again soon, its better nowadays i guess but everyone plays less as they get older people just find that balance Even whilst "addicted" i played football 3-4 times a week, now i still do that + gym + work.. as u get older Rs is more of a passtime than a hobby :)
Berniej Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Well I guess I'm just a washed up 15 year old Runescape addict. I'M A MESS :( Don;t take this personal bro but you are fuckign 15!? In my opinion best years are 16-20. Your life isn't ruined cuz u'r playing Runescape on your 15th, you've got way more then enough time then most people on these forums. I'm already done with Uni etc though so I don't give a fuck lol ( even though I'm quiting xD ). You know what I did, I played runescape during weekdays, went out in the weekend friday and saturday and I agree with Tris, the times I didn't play Runescape I'd play Halo 2 ( yes Halo 2 back in the day when I was hooked to Runescape )
Ipk No Mercy Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 well after i stopped, my grades didnt went much better because i think its still too boring to learn and so on and youll ever find something better. im more often away with friends cos there is no more this kind of thinking like omg a clan event i have to go home before 10 pm and so on.. the family situation didnt went better because the problems arent from runescape :D and there wasnt so many problems while, before and after runescape. sleeping? hm well on week days i still sleep up to 7am and on week ends i still sleep up to 12 am and go to bed late so nothing changed. i can say that after i quit runescape, i have a bit more money and free time, but i still use my computer often to chat and so on. but the gaming, its gone.
Azburn Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 the time i find a new addiction, i will try to never think about rs again
Sam|Stop Lying Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 Good replies guys, and yeah Bernie I realize I'm still young and have a life ahead of me. It's just it makes me depressed looking at my time played. Even though half of it's botted o.O
Evan Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I'm going to be honest with everything I saw here. Runescape for me is an actual enjoyment, I like to come home after the day, sit back and relax ge a snack an just play for fun. Once this game stops being fun for me I will most likely quit. No matter how bad my day was, once I come onto runescape and playing, talking to people, skilling, killing, it just makes me happy. One of my teachers told my parents that they couldn't wipe a smile off my face, and I think runescape contributes to my happiness levels. Among other things ;) If I were to quit and focus on school work more I don't think I would be happy, and I would just turn to watching TV or something. I like being constantly busy where I balance Runescape, School, Sports, and Girls. But if I make one my main priority I feel like it could let me down, mind you I'm 14 and still got alot of stuff to do still. I still have normal sleep patterns, never lose sleep over this game. So I think runescape has impacted my life, but in a positive way. It's taught me lessons about lots of things, from being a nice person in general and not doing stupid things IRL, made me acknowledge the important things, and so much more. So the only thing I would have changed about runescape is joining FOE earlier <3
Blitz Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I dont play it much now so probably the same. Xbox however, i'd have nothing to do and be like, :(
I C0NN0R I Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 What would it be like? inb4 TH1S IS 0FF TOPIC OMFG, i'm asking you people who have retired, and those who are still playing. I wouldn't have completely neglected my social life from age 14-17/18 and as such probably wouldn't be the socially crippled failure i am today =p Life without runescape gives so much more freedom and time to do something worthwhile though, it's good.
