Yeah, that’s pretty much how I see it too. When a run ends like that it always feels brutal in the moment, but Japan have built a side people actually enjoy watching and respecting, which is not nothing. They’ve had plenty of moments where they looked fearless instead of just “happy to be there”. If this is the end of this particular chapter, it’s still one they can look back on without shame. Football loves making everyone miserable eventually, very generous sport like that.
