Waitstaff in America depend on it as wages are deducted for presumed tips to meet minimum wage and unless there is absolutely horrendous service I'll tip. I'll tip extra for good service but it comes down to the fact that I feel I've been given opportunities in life that a lot of people don't and if I don't pay it forward how would you expect others to pick you up when you're down? Look I should've explained more but focused on that part, this topic stems from us talking about on TS, I'm one for tipping only it's right but what gets me is how it's on the costumer to make up the wage margin no matter how the service is good or bad, that's where i'm in the grey area. The whole concept of this system where companies or stores make huge margins while their workers sign up for horrible wage that is only made up by treating people dining in is where the real discussion should be, I shouldn't have to feel bad due to not tipping.
