I could go into great detail and compile a large amount of information copy pasted from various sources; however instead I will refer you to good quality existing information to save both me and you time.

If IT Fits Your Macros - The Flexible Diet

"IFYM is a flexible dieting approach where you disregard arbitrary food labels such as “junk food” and “clean food” and focus on your total caloric intake (calories in versus calories out), your daily set macro-nutrient targets (your fats, carbs, protein), and your micro-nutrient goals (your vitamins and minerals) in order to achieve your desired body composition." - DoYouEven.com

Clean eating or IIFYM?  You decide. It comes down to personal preference, experience and your beliefs.

I just can't see how IIFYM wouldn't work... it just makes sense. In my opinion, there is no need to eat 'clean' all the time unless you are competing at the very top level.

I'm not sponsored, i don't get paid to lift, i do it as a hobby, to look good, and to live a healthier lifestyle. No need to dedicate 24hours a day to it, as 'lazy' or 'undedicated' as that sounds, it's true really

I fail to see how them being high calories is a plus when he's cutting for a contest?

My point is he eats it everyday. Dunno why he does for cutting... Maybe because they're filling so he won't need to eat as much as well as the fact they're high in calories.

only reason i sometimes only eat "clean" foods is because if there is an event etc i want to look good for, e.g. clubbing/beach, the vein prick in me is very sodium concious and wants to hold as little water as possible. them lean sunken tren-cheeks and chizzled jaw pls

most "clean" carb sources such as brown rice / oats / wholewheat pasta contain zero salt/sodium! dairy also bloats me abit

I follow IIFYM to some extent too but I don't count fats/carbs precisely, I just eyeball with them. I feel like macro tracking is unnecessary: some days you have a craving for carbs other days for fats. So what I think that is going to matter is just that you get enough protein/calories and micronutrients in as well as stay hydrated. I think keeping nutrition simple is the key.

P.S I hate the term 'clean eating'. Macros are macros lol.

you can use it as a guideline... or else i'd be able to put 5 beers per day in my diet and it would still 'fit '

it works but ppl are 2 lazy to put logs on myfitnesspal and weigh their food even tho it takes 5 seconds

lol at the people that claim they are doing IIFYM and don't have a kitchen scale, it's surprisingly common ffs

years ago before i started weighing my food properly, i was assuming that my standard breakfast contained about 100g of oats. brb bought a kitchen scale and it was more like 220g LOL.
